Agency over AI
I'm an education technologist developing pragmatic AI solutions for educators. This stack shares two things:
1. 52 Apps in 52 Weeks
I put out a new AI MicroApp demo each week. The demo includes a video demo, a working example, and the code and quickstart to deploy your own. Each app focuses on an area of course development or assessment, and highlights a practical use case for AI in education that can also be customized.
The fact is, no two educators teach in exactly the same way. Therefore, our AI should not be a one-size-fits-all approach. The future of AI in education is empowering educators to have agency over AI to build tools that work for their unique classroom. This substack serves that mission.
2. Summaries and Insights from Relevant Articles
Right now, my research focus is on AI scoring and validation. The apps I build are more useful if we can be confident in the accuracy and consistency of their outputs. And in the long term as AI becomes more expensive (it will), we need to be able to measure the trade-offs between accuracy and cost. AI scoring and validation is the conversation that most educational institutions will start having as they adopt AI, so as I’m researching it myself I’ll post my summaries and insights from those kinds of articles here.
